The North Dakota State Library provides informational materials, advice, assistance and support services to the libraries and citizens of ND. The library loans materials for a period of four weeks.

The NORTH DAKOTA STATE LIBRARY DISABILITY SERVICES provides talking books and magazines to any North Dakota resident who is unable to read standard print material because of a visual, physical, or reading impairment. Materials are available in Braille, large print, or audio cassette free of charge to eligible readers. The talking book collection consists of over 60,000 fiction and non-fiction books on cassette, plus over 350 locally recorded North Dakota books and magazines.
Other materials available from the North Dakota State Library include: Braille books and magazines, descriptive videos, large print books and magazines, and print/braille books. Reading materials and the special machines required to listen to the recordings are sent to borrowers and returned to the libraries postage-free.
