Description:
The Faith Community Nurse provides one on one or small group education regarding health concerns; community speaker on health concerns/issues; ongoing education to congregation in the form of bulletin/newsletter articles and bulletin boards; safety processes within the church setting are maintained; health assessments; referrals to medial providers and community resources; visitation to homes, facilities in the area and hospitals; support care to family members; completion of Health Care Directives with individuals; assistance in life changes (i.e., moves); prayers support and ongoing connection to the congregation to homebound members.
The Pastor and FCN provide a communion service monthly at Good Samaritan Center in Fargo. organization of services: Case Management, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Prayer Quilt Ministry, Disaster/Emergency Congregation Calling Tree; Caring Casseroles, Sandwich brigade (during disasters), Luv 'n Hugs Card Ministry, Messiah Chariot (van ride to church service), Intercessory Prayer, meeting representation, member of Sanford Health Faith Advisory Board, member of Cass-Clay VOAD board, and more.
Affiliated with the RRV-PN group, with Concordia College FCN preparation course and as a preceptor of students, congregation affiliation with Sanford Health FCN program in Fargo, member of the ELPNA and affiliated with the national FCN/Health Ministry association. The Parish Nurse is scheduled to work 20 hours a week wit the congregation and is available to congregation members during an emergency.
