Description:
The Federal Communications Commission is an independent United States Government agency, directly responsible to Congress. The FCC is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable.
The FCC administers "Get Connected: Afford-A-Phone", a lifeline assistance and link-up America outreach campaign. The lifeline telephone discount program gives people with low incomes a discount on basic monthly service for the phone at their principal place of residence. This can be a wireline or wireless phone. The Link-Up program pays for a portion of the wireline or wireless installation or activation fee, not including the handset.
Information about the Lifeline Program is available at www.fcc.gov/lifeline/outreach. To see if a person is eligible, go to www.lifelinesupport.org and click on "Companies in my State" and then on ND on the map for a list of providers.
