Description:
State and Federal statutes require the Office of Special Education to: Prescribe the rules and regulations for special education; Assist school districts in the development and administration of special education programs and; Establish the standards and provide for the approval and certification of schools and facilities.
Special education staff members provide technical assistance to a variety of customers on many issues regarding the education of children and youth with disabilities. In addition, staff members are also actively involved in the continuous improvement monitoring process to ensure that the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is appropriately implemented in North Dakota schools.
