Provides a variety of services to patients affected by cancer. Services may include: wigs, Kathy Kap scarves and prostheses. It also offers programs such as: Look Good. . .Feel Good, I Can Cope, Reach to Recovery, Road to Recovery, patient and family education materials, transportation assistance, and information and referral services.
Patient and Family Education Materials - Provides cancer patients and their families with needed information concerning cancer prevention, diagnosis and care, prevent or minimize physical, psychological, and social problems due to cancer or cancer treatment and develop the needed coping skills which will assist in improving the quality of life.
Reach to Recovery - Women offer assistance on an individual basis to other women who, like
themselves, have undergone breast surgery. With physician approval, these specially trained volunteers will conduct visitations either in the hospital or the home.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to the American Cancer Society may send it to the Bismarck/Mandan office. The amount will be credited to the county they desire and specified for use in that county. If a card is to be sent as a memorial to a family, this should be noted. Volunteers are needed to assist with the telephone and mailings. Interested persons can call the American Cancer Society office.
