Since 2002 the MetLife Awards have covered a variety of community safety issues and has even specifically focused on Seniors and Safety, with two award winners in 2008 and 2009. The applications submitted into this process have been developed into eight page case studies that are used to help guide communities and police departments facing similar safety issues. These case studies, which are free to the public, are a unique resource because of their specific focus on crime deterrence and neighborhood inclusionary practices.
