TThis office offers assistance to taxpayers who have questions or concerns regarding the preparation of income tax.
For information on property tax credit, call the Tax office. Homeowners 65 years of age or older, or permanently and totally disabled, may be eligible for a reduction in the taxable value of their homestead if they meet the income criteria. Renters meeting the same age and income requirements may be eligible to receive a refund of a portion of their rent that is deemed to represent property taxes. There is no asset test for renters. Medical expenses paid by the applicant and not reimbursed by insurance may be deducted from income to determine eligibility.
