During the pandemic, our services have changed some. We are still a Title III service provider for Grand Forks County, including Meals on Wheels, Home Delivered Meals, and a weekday no-contact meal drive-thru for people 60 and older. Meals on Wheels and Home Delivered Meals clients receive weekday, hot meals delivered within Grand Forks city limits by volunteers. Senior Dining (congregate dining) is still on hold. The Grand Forks Senior Center also has frozen meals for sale which can be picked up during the meal drive-thru or delivery arrangements can be made if necessary. Beginning May 3, they can be picked up inside the Senior Center. Foot care is available by appointment at the Senior Center and the rural satellite clinics. Resource coordinators from the Grand Forks Senior Center work with older adults through Grand Forks and Nelson Counties, connecting them to services and programs in order for them to remain independent at home. Specifically, Resource coordinators are helping rural seniors get frozen meals during the pandemic. The plan is to open the building to the public on Monday, May 3, 2021. Meals and scheduled activities will not occur initially when the building opens (the drive-thru will continue), but people can come in to visit and have coffee. Masks are required, except when drinking coffee. Distancing is encouraged. Unvaccinated people must wear their mask at all times (no drinking coffee). We will not ask to see vaccination cards. It is an on-your-honor system. The door to door transportation is provided by Senior Rider (operated by Cities Area Transit) at 701-787-9120.
