Description:
Guardian and Protective Services serves the needs of vulnerable adults, the elderly, mentally ill, and disabled adults who need a decision maker because they have limited support, no family members or
capable friends to assist them. They provide Guardianship, Conservatorshis, Powers of Attorney for Health or Finance, Social Security Representative Payee, VA Fiduciary, Executor of Estates and Trustee services.
Guardian and Protective Services (GaPS) primary focus is on the safety and well-being of the individual, in the least restrictive environment, while working to preserve the client's dignity and affording
them as much independence as possible. Services include:
Assist in maintaining residents in their own homes.
Coordinate home health care, and placement in assisted living or skilled nursing facilities if necessary.
Assist with healthcare decisions.
Research and link clients, and/or their families with appropriate services.
Provide assistance with financial affairs (paying bills, managing checkbooks, budgeting, resolving credit issues).
Preparing applicatoins for housing programs, home services, medical services, fuel assistance, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security.
Referring clients to legal professionals when needed: Guardianships, Conservatorship, Trusts.
GaPS also oversees the North Dakota Pooled Trust.
