SHIC (State Health Insurance Counseling) is part of a national program to provide free and unbiased counseling on any issues or concerns people have regarding Medicare. The program’s main office is in Bismarck, but we have trained volunteers in several communities across the state, many working with local sponsoring organizations, to provide counseling, and referral services to senior citizens and the disabled who are just starting with or have been covered by Medicare for some time.
The Insurance Department is also home to Prescription Connection. Prescription Connection connects low-income ND residents of all ages with pharmaceutical companies’ prescription assistance programs. If you qualify you can receive free or reduced cost prescription medications. NDID staff provide all appropriate applications.
